Yearick Named Region 19 Men’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year
Dan Yearick, in his first year as head coach of the Delaware Tech men’s lacrosse team, was named 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 Coach of the Year after guiding his squad to an undefeated season in league play. The team won the region championship, advanced to the semifinals of the North Atlantic District Tournament, and placed five players on the All-Region Team, including defensive player of the year.

Delaware Tech’s Owens campus hosted its annual “Starry, Starry Night” Gala on April 27 to raise money to support the purchase of high-tech classroom equipment and scholarship opportunities for workforce training certificate programs and international education.

Delaware Tech won the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 19 men’s lacrosse championship with a 13-12 victory over Sussex County Community College (New Jersey) on April 24 at the DE Turf Sports Complex.

Law Enforcement Option Program Holds Graduation Ceremony
Delaware Technical Community College’s criminal justice - law enforcement option (LEO) program held a graduation ceremony at the Terry Campus in Dover to celebrate students who completed the program’s 13-credit law enforcement practicum.

Visual Communications Students Earn Adobe Certifications
The Delaware Tech visual communications program celebrated its students who earned Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certifications during 2023 by awarding Adobe Certification Celebration packets. The packets, developed by program faculty, were based on a tier system, with more certifications and higher scores resulting in a larger packet.

College Honors Distinguished Donors at Celebration of Giving Events
Delaware Tech acknowledged and honored its distinguished donors with Celebration of Giving luncheons at both the Georgetown and Dover campuses. At these events, scholarship recipients spoke about how the financial assistance they received has changed their lives, and donors had the opportunity to meet the students who have received the scholarships they generously funded.

Delaware Tech Wins National Awards for Communication and Marketing
Delaware Technical Community College earned two Paragon Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), which recognizes outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges. This national competition is exclusive to marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges, and winners were chosen from more than 1,500 entries in all categories from community colleges nationwide.

More than 300 Delaware Tech students recently joined the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa. Ceremonies honoring the new inductees were held by the campus chapters throughout March 2024.

20th Annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser Raises Over $150,000
Wilmington, DE – The Delaware Tech Stanton and Wilmington campuses celebrated the 20th anniversary of “An Evening of Mardi Gras” on March 2, an event which entertained more than 700 guests and grossed an all-time high of more than $150,000. Net proceeds will help students in need pay for tuition, books, and other essentials while attending Delaware Tech.

Delaware Supreme Court Meets at Delaware Tech’s Owens Campus for Historic First Sussex County Visit
Delaware Tech hosted the Delaware Supreme Court at the College’s Owens Campus in Georgetown on March 19 to increase outreach among the community and, especially, to students. This unique event was the first time Delaware Supreme Court justices held oral arguments in Sussex County.

Delaware Tech Named Leader College of Distinction
Delaware Technical Community College is one of six institutions nationwide to be designated a 2024 Leader College of Distinction by Achieving the Dream (ATD) in recognition of the College’s work to promote and sustain its student success efforts. ATD, a national, reform-focused nonprofit dedicated to advancing community colleges as hubs of economic and social mobility in their communities, previously named Delaware Tech a Leader College in 2022.
